Reinventing carpooling in areas where public transports are less developed

The LOCARP4EU by ECOV project aims to encourage unplanned “opportunistic” carpooling through the development of bricks for connected infrastructure, applications and societal studies.

The suburbs of cities generally have less developed public transport networks. Thus, in these areas, the most widely used means of transport is still the car. Ecov aims to address this lack of affordable and flexible mobility solutions outside city centres. Its concept is based on connected car-sharing stations that bring together local motorists and passengers looking for a flexible and economical route.
